The climate is mild and the activities varied. Lovers of water sports or beautiful discoveries, you will be seduced by the Red Island and its incredible landscapes. We have put together a guide to make your visit to Fuerte simple and stress free.

The best time to visit?
One of the main qualities of the island is its hot and dry climate all year round. The very rare precipitation on the archipelago guarantees an ideal climate without suffocating!
Spring: It is the ideal season to discover Fuerteventura. Temperatures are mild, rain is scarce and tourists are not present.
Summer: Although the temperatures do not exceed 30 °, the sun is still very strong. If you are looking to sit back and tan, this is the best time for you.
Autumn: This is the ideal season to discover Fuerteventura thanks to the pleasant temperatures and the few tourists.
Winter: Temperatures are mild and pleasant. This is the ideal time and destination to escape the cold and sunbathe in the middle of December.
However, you will meet many tourists during this period.
how to get here?
• Plane: This is the easiest way to get to this Canary Island. Depending on your country of departure you will land at Fuerteventura airport (FUE) named “El Matorral”, located just 5 km from the capital Puerto del Rosario. From here a multitude of options will be at your disposition to reach your accomodation.
• Boat: To get to Fuerteventura, you can also take the ferry. However, departures are only from mainland Spain (Cadiz or Huleva) and the journey takes many hours to reach the Island. If you feel like more of an adventurous journey then this is for you.
the easy way
To travel around the island you have a couple of options, here are some we have selected for you:
Hire a car/ scooter: The island of Fuerteventura can be explored entirely and easily by car, which is very inexpensive to hire (for more information, visit this Find and reserve a car page). The single main FV1 road runs across the island from north to south and roughly runs along the east coast.
Several secondary roads connect the interior of the island, as well as the west coast. To access certain parts of the island, you have to take tracks.
The public transport
Bus : The bus remains the best way to get around once there. 17 bus lines run throughout the island, connecting the North to the South and passing through all the municipalities. You can find the routes and timetables of each line in the following link:

the adventurous way
Bike: You can also discover the island and its amazing landscapes by bike. Fuerteventura is the second largest Island and the least populated thus leaving thousand of Kilometres of smooth uncrowded and cycle friendly roads with amazing views. The climate is unique, thanks to it’s yearly average of 18’C and only 2 weeks a year of rain you can be guarenteed great riding conditions in this incredible micro climate.
